Happy Carl Sagan Day, everybody.

You would think this posting would have come from David. Go figure.
From nintendo.joystiq.com/Gizmodo/MOCpages:
“Video games and Lego go together like peanut butter and chocolate. We’ve seen wonderfully bricky homages to Donkey Kong and cuddly little Pokemon, an ingenious way to make your own Zapper and even recreations of other Nintendo consoles — and now, a full NES set courtesy of [Dave Sterling's page on] MOCpages.”

Our friend Andy Kennedy’s band, Monster Eiffel Tower, has a new EP out. You can download it for free on the band’s website! Check it out!
An article posted over on Examiner.com relates the passing of Sheldon Dorf, who founded what we know today as the San Diego Comic-Con.
“Why Shel Dorf in a menswear column? Because without his 39 year devotion to all things comics-related, comic books, and all the character-driven merchandise spawned therein, very well could have remained a disposable and passing childhood obsession instead of blossoming into the multi-billion dollar, cross-cultural market force that it is today.”
Shel Dorf, founder of Comic-Con, dies [Thanks, Kori]
If my Halloween costume doesn’t give it away to you all, I am a huge fan of Carl Sagan, noted scientist and Geeky Idol. November 9th would have been his 75th birthday.
To that end, people are spreading the word on the first annual “Carl Sagan Day”, an event which is being promoted mainly by folks at Broward College in Florida, and will take place tomorrow, November 7th. I guess you could call this “Carl Sagan Day (observed)”.
From Boing Boing:
“To celebrate the man, his work and the awesome wonderment of science, Broward College in Davie, Florida is hosting the first ever Carl Sagan Day tomorrow (Saturday the 7th). If you’re in that area, they’ve got a whole day’s worth of activities going on—from planetarium shows and stargazing, to a “Cosmos” marathon, to appearances by Bad Astronomy blogger Phil Plait and James “The Amazing” Randi (who was a personal friend of Sagan’s).”
He was an awesome guy, and deserving of this recognition. I think I’ll spend Carl Sagan Day, or at least part of it, curled up with the Cosmos companion book (pictured). What about you?
Words fail me.

Over on our Flickr page, we’ve posted some shots from the HallowMEME Party hosted by Urlesque and Know Your Meme. Check it out!
