Last episode we talked about 3-d imagery on the big screen, but what about actual physical 3-d…such as the awesome Cubebot from the David Weeks Studio!

Cubebot is a wooden robot that can fold into a cube or unfold into just about any pose you can imagine. It’s inspired by Japanese shinto kumi-ki puzzles and has joints that use little rubber bands giving him remarkable flexibility.

It’s a really fun combination of a puzzle toy and an action figure…much like The Transformers. It’s almost like this guy is a primitive ancestor
of the Transformers.

With a little work I could see this toy used for some sweet stop motion animation and I’m itching to try that myself (or with buddies….ahem…cough cough….David.)

I’m betting this is going to be a hot sell for the upcoming holiday season as well so get em’ soon!

I finally replaced the R2-D2 that I’ve been “borrowing” from my younger brother since about 1998. Also, I always forget how ripped the original Luke and Han Solo from the ’90s were. I sense Rob Liefeld’s hand in this.

We also have Awesome Anakin Skywalker (none of that head-replacement BS), and Momaw Nadon, who I always liked.

A recent article on the New York Daily News website attempts to sensationalize a photo that was recently discussed on Gizmodo — that of a pole-dancing toy doll being sold somewhere.

The photo is most likely of some kind of bootlegged discount-store import toy, but that’s not the point. What makes me annoyed is a) how the Daily News is trying to make “news” out of this random internet photo, and b) the idea that this doll could, in any capacity, be harmful to a child. Parents buy their kids things like Bratz dolls — which make me want to puke — but heaven help us if a cabbage patch kid comes with a dance pole. Spare me.
