In this very low-key episode, the Geeks hang out at Andrew Roberts’ abode, review “Drag Me to Hell” by Sam Raimi just in time for Halloween, talk about Big Apple Comic Con ‘09, and more. Also featuring our interview with Joe Madureira, comic book writer/artist and creative director on the new “Darksiders” game for PS3!
Urlesque.com and Know Your Meme are throwing another internet-themed costume party, “Happy HallowMEME Party” on Halloween Eve (October 30th) at 9pm at Fontana’s Bar (105 Eldridge Street between Grand and Broome).
“Unlike any Halloween party you’ve ever attended, Happy HallowMEME will celebrate web culture with guests donning costumes celebrating notorious web memes and viral video stars.”
Geeks of any caliber will likely be familiar with the X-Entertainment blog, run by a guy named Matt Caracappa. He’s a master of 80s pop culture, and I also enjoy his occasional work in ToyFare magazine.
Anyhow, he today chronicles a recent trip to K-Mart, where he went in to buy Halloween Cap’n Crunch, but came out having purchased a life-size animatronic Jason Voorhees. Go check it out.
The New York Geekcast is hosted by Nelson Diaz and David Pagano. These two self-proclaimed nerds (along with their friends) cover anything and everything dorky -- movies, music, comics, video games, television -- while bringing a unique New York sensibility to it all.
